Image via WikipediaMy name is Jameson Branch. I was born in Sandusky, Ohio to James and Janet Branch. I have three sisters and a brother; Jenna, Jordan, Justina, and Janson (yes, the whole family has first names starting with a "J"). When I was 12, my family relocated to Milton, Florida, where I currently reside. I'm majoring in Secondary Education/ Language Arts. Growing up, I was one of the strange kids that for some reason absolutely loved going to school. When I was trying to decide on a major, I couldn’t think of anything I’d rather do than be in school (and get paid for it, too!). I learned about USA when the marching band director, Mr. Ward Miller visited my high school band and rapidly convinced me to audition on Trumpet for the first-ever South Alabama Jaguar Marching Band. I started last fall and have grown to love the people, the school, and the entire Mobile area. Despite my dedication to musical ensembles at the university and my major of choice, I'm not quite as nerdy as one might suspect. I enjoy almost any sport, most notably golf and football, and you can find me quite often at the gym running, lifting weights, and playing racquetball.

Another musician. Lots of them in EDM310 this semester. We should have a show!
ReplyDeleteI am interested in your choice as a HS language arts teacher. I don't have a lot of respect for many of them (or the college ones for that matter too.) They usually seem to focus too much on context and not the content the students create. It doesn't help that much of the curriculum is the very same objectives that the students have had since around the third grade :)
ReplyDeleteI would be very interested in hearing how you plan to teach writing, grammar, etc. at the high school level. There are some great LA teachers that I know on Twitter that do some amazing things with their students. They tend to focus on what the student is writing much more than the mechanics.
