Blog Assignment 7

Dr. Randy Pausch gives an inspirational final lecture. Not only does he use humor and charisma to keep the audience's focus, he also implements the use of a projector screen to make his points clear. I myself have already seen this video as a part of both my public speaking and communications courses. I can easily see the usefulness of using a PowerPoint or other slide show program as an accompaniment to a speech because it helps the audience stay focused and also helps the speaker stay on point.
I liked what Dr. Pausch said about his "head fake". Many people have questioned him about what he's leaving behind for his children. What they don't realize is that the lecture isn't for them. His final lecture is for his children. I understand that he wants to leave this lecture for the audience to make the world a better place and all, but his agenda ultimately focuses on the ones he loves most.
Dr. Randy Pausch
This speech was both educational and inspirational, all the while maintaining its enjoyable qualities. I would highly recommend this video to any educator who needs  something of substance to share with his or her classroom. I enjoyed the speech and the technological uses that are especially relevant to this course that were implemented in this presentation.

  1. I also have seen this video before and I thoughht it was just as inspirational this time as it was the first time I saw it. I loved that he could express so much humor to his class. No doubt, that kept my completely interested in his speech because I couldn't wait to hear his next bit of humor. I too would recomend this to be shown to any classes. I know that it could inspire and entertain almost anyone.
